Scholarships at University of Sussex Business School

A limited number of scholarships are available to international Masters applicants. These are highly competitive and only applicants with excellent academic achievement and potential will be considered. If you have exceptional grades to date, you can apply for a scholarship after you have received an offer to study at the University of Sussex in 2025.

What you get : £5,000.

Who is eligible

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

• Be classified as ‘Overseas’ for fee purposes.

• Be taking up a place on a full time Masters degree, starting September 2025.

• Be self-financing.

• Have exceptional academic grades (see 'Qualifications advice' for indication of minimum grades required; this does not include all accepted qualifications and is instead intended as guidance).

Who isn’t eligible

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you:

• Are applying for a Masters at a university that is not at the University of Sussex.

• Are progressing into the final year of an integrated Masters at Sussex.

• Are studying an online course.

• Are already holding another University of Sussex scholarship (i.e Chancellor's Masters Scholarship).

Chancellor's Masters Scholarships are available for First Class graduates from institutions in the UK or Ireland. There are only 100 scholarships available, so there is a competitive application process.

What you get

£3,000 for applicants assessed as 'Home' for fees or £5,000 for applicants assessed as 'Overseas' for fees.

Who is eligible

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

• have studied a Bachelors (Hons) at a UK or Irish university and hold, or expect to achieve, a First Class Honours degree.

• have accepted an offer of a place on an eligible full time or part time Masters course to start in September 2025.

Who isn’t eligible

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you:

• are applying for a Masters at a university that is not at the University of Sussex.

• are progressing into the final year of an integrated Masters at Sussex.

• studied at a UK University’s overseas campus or external programme.

• are already in receipt of the Sussex Alumni Scholarship (if you have also been assessed as 'Home' for fees).

This scholarship is offered to an applicant from the USA who will be taking up a place to study a full time Masters degree at Sussex in September 2025.

• Equivalent of $10,000.

• Be taking up a place on a full time Masters degree, starting September 2025.

• Be a US national or provide proof of residency.

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you:

• Are progressing into the final year of an integrated Masters at Sussex.

• Are studying an online course.

The Mandela Scholarship was established to protest against the injustice of apartheid and raise the profile of Nelson Mandela’s struggle for freedom. Following his release from prison in 1990, Mandela wrote to the Scholarship Fund stating: "the power of education extends beyond the development of skills we need for economic success. It can contribute to nation-building and reconciliation". Applicants must evidence how they embrace the values of Mandela and evidence their commitment to using the degree towards the educational, social, cultural and economic development of South Africa.

What you get

Successful applicants will have their full masters tuition fee waived and receive £16,440 cash maintenance, paid across the year in monthly installments.

Who is eligible

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

• have applied and received an offer for a full time, eligible Masters degree at Sussex starting in September 2025.

• have been assessed as 'Overseas' for fees.

• be a South African national.

• hold a good undergraduate degree from an African university, the equivalent of a UK Upper Second class degree.

Preference may be given to candidates with work experience, who see a Masters at Sussex as a catalyst for future career development. Preference will also be given to applicants that do not already hold the equivalent of a UK Masters degree.

The MBA Impact scholarship recognises and rewards candidates who have demonstrated the ability to initiate and pursue impact in different settings.

What you get

• £2,500—£5,000.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

• hold an offer of a place on the Sussex MBA.

• have management experience.

The University of Sussex has been awarded the title of University of Sanctuary, in recognition of its efforts to welcome and support forced migrants. This Sanctuary Scholarship is one way that the University supports students that are unable to receive student loans; to enable them to take up a place on their chosen degree at Sussex.

What you get

• Full 'Overseas' tuition fee waiver.

• £16,440 living costs.

• Sussexsport membership.

This scholarship is offered to forced migrants or applicants granted a temporary form of leave only, to provide financial assistance in order to enable them to take up a place on a Masters degree at the University of Sussex.

Who is eligible

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have received an offer of a place to study a Masters degree at the University of Sussex. starting in September 2025. You must also:

• Have submitted, or are the dependent of someone who has submitted, an application to the UK Home Office for recognition as a Refugee; or

• Have been granted temporary form of leave to remain in the UK as a result of an asylum application (e.g. limited leave to remain, humanitarian protection) and not be eligible for funding from Student Finance England; or

• Be a partner/child of an asylum seeker or an unaccompanied asylum-seeking child; and

• Have a household income of under £35,000; and

• Be unable to access UK government student financial support because of your current immigration status.

Who isn’t eligible

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you:

• Are not currently residing in the UK.

• Have applied for, or received, recognition as Refugee (or other forms of temporary leave as the result of an application for Asylum) in a country which is not the UK.

• Are applying for a Masters at a university that is not at the University of Sussex.

• Are progressing into the final year of an integrated Masters at Sussex.

• Are studying an online course.

This scholarship is for applicants who are a nationals of Bangladesh, are classified as 'Overseas' for fee purposes and have been accepted to study an eligible Masters course at Sussex.

• Be classified as ‘overseas’ for fee purposes.

• Be taking up a place on an eligible full-time Masters degree, starting September 2025.

• Be self-financing.

Students with an offer to study in the University of Sussex Business School will be able to combine this scholarship with the Business School International Masters Award (2025). Students with an offer to study in the School of Engineering & Informatics will be able to combine this scholarship with the Engineering & Informatics International Masters Award (2025).
